OUR MISSION:
Immortal Sisters of the Tao (IST) Foundation’s mission is to celebrate outstanding female teachers of Tai Chi, Qigong, and Taoist meditation around the world and to provide opportunities and financial support to women who want to further their education and training in these arts.
IST is dedicated to empowering women through these ancient practices, fostering holistic well-being, self-healing, and community support. This scholarship program aims to assist women who are passionate about Tai Chi, Qigong and Taoist meditation and healing arts but may face financial and social barriers to their education and training.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
IST Scholarship Program includes multiple options for participation, whether you are on a professional path and/or coming to these practices as a path of self-healing.
A limited number of scholarships are available to programs from IST's 2026 Selected Scholarship Program (more info here).
Financial Scholarship Awards are also available to apply toward a training or study program of your choice. These awards are offered in 2 tiers: one for newer students and practitioners with less than 3 years of study, and one for more experienced practitioners with over 3 years of experience in Tai Chi, Qigong and Taoist meditation and healing arts.
Tier 1 - $300 - $500 towards payment of training programs for new practitioners
Tier 2 - Up to $1000 towards payment of training programs for experienced practitioners
Application Period is open from July 15th 2026 - September 15th 2026
Eligibility: Women of all backgrounds who are currently studying or wish to study Tai Chi, Qigong or Taoist meditation and/or healing practices in an established program, workshop, or teacher training. We are especially interested in providing support and opportunities to women in structurally and historically disadvantaged communities, including Black, Latinx, Indigenous and other communities of color.
Selection Criteria: Financial need, commitment to the practice of Taoist healing arts, and potential impact on the applicant’s personal and community goals.

Please complete the application form here, and submit all required materials by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Please note: You are welcome to apply for both types of scholarships (financial and any of the IST Selected Programs). However, only one will be awarded for each applicant, i.e. funding towards a program of your choice OR one of the programs selected by IST.
